 Lecture on Bengal's Fight Against British Colonialism from 1905 – 1920.

An interactive session with a panel of esteemed academia was held on 16th April, 2023 at Rathindra Mancha in Jorasanko Thakurbari, Kolkata. The aim was to resuscitate the records of sacrifice and courage by Bengali revolutionaries against British colonial power in the period 1905 – 1920. 

The objective was to take, explore, discuss and re-discover the forgotten history of Bengal during the same time period. The forum was kept out of the bounds of present day politics. At the onset of the endeavor on that day, a solemn remembrance of the fiery soul of Late Ullaskar Dutta, the revolutionary who died an unsung death, was observed.

On that occasion, Ullaskar Award 2023 was presented to renowned author, Shri Ashok Kumar Mukhopadhay for his biography of Ullaskar Dutta, ‘Agnipurush’.

Eminent historian Dr. Purabi Roy; Shri Amiya Kumar Samanta; former Director General (Intelligence), West Bengal Police; BBC veteran Dr. Subir Bhaumik; Dr. Somshankar Ray, Assistant Professor, Vidyasagar College for Women, Kolkata; Shri Arun Kumar Dey, publisher, Radical Publications, Kolkata and the President of Kolkata Press Club, Shri Snehasis Sur, who moderated the event.

Ullaskar Dutta Academy organized an open house with leading scholars and leading security experts like Dr. Purabi Roy, former DG (Intelligence), West Bengal, Shri Amiya Samanta, Shri Snehasis Sur, President, Kolkata Press Club and veteran BBC correspondent, Dr. Subir Bhaumik on the importance of revisiting the history of revolutionary movement in Bengal from 1905 – 1920, and how the activities during that period led the foundation of following events which shaped and ultimately realized India’s Independence. The event was organized at the prestigious Rathindra Mancha of Jorasanko Thakurbari in Kolkata. The event saw an enthused audience including people from academia and the media. The event was graced by diplomats from consulates, based in Kolkata. The media coverage to the run up of this event was done by media houses like Ananda Bazar Patrika and The Statesman.
