Ullaskar Dutta Academy Trust has organized events during the period of 2022-2023:
- A sketch competition in Agartala on Ullaskar Dutta’s portrait recreation via pencil sketch among Government Art College students in Agartala.
- School level debate competition.
- Ullaskar Dutta’s birth anniversary in Agartala.
- Co-ordination with eminent cultural personalities and media houses in Bangladesh and various departments of the Bangladesh Government to complete the preservation of the more than a century old ancestral house of revolutionary Ullaskar Dutta in Kalikachha village, in Brahmanbaria District of Bangladesh. Now it is a heritage building. Ministry of Culture, Government of Bangladesh has issued a gazette on the same.

A portrait sketch competition was held on 9th April, 2022 in Agartala.
People Participated
Students from the Government Art College, Tripura. Jury of this event were eminent artist Aporesh Pal and renowned sculptor Debabrata Bhattacharya.
Description A sketch competition was organized to re-create Ullaskar Dutta’s portrait in their canvass. All the winning participants were awarded with medals and certificates issues by Ullaskar Dutta Academy. Students were provided with sketch pencils and art paper from the Ullaskar Dutta Academy where they recreated the portrait of revolutionary Ullaskar Dutta after his sentencing by the colonial courts. The vivid nature of the top three portraits was widely appreciated by all and one. All participants were provided with adequate refreshment in view of the extreme summer.

School level debate competition on Indian history and culture.
People Participated
The participant schools were Maharani Tulsibati Higher Secondary Girls School, Bani Vidyapith, Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan and Shishu Vihar Higher Secondary School.
The jury of the event were Professor Chandrika Basu Majumder, Department of Political Science, Tripura University and Dr. Monisankar Misra, Department of History, Tripura University.
Description
The debate was modelled on various receded facets of Indian history and culture. The aim was to stimulate the students to study history in a bit different manner and be critical in the manner of studying the same.

“Khadi Revolution in the Indian subcontinent – where did it originate, was it in Sabarmati, Gujarat or in Comilla, Bengal ?”
SECOND ROUND
“Is the omission of the Manikya dynasty’s contribution to build Santiniketan and Biswa Bharati in countless Tagore research papers/articles, justified ?”
DEBATE TOPIC FOR WINNER AND RUNNERS-UP
“Is there any contribution of Tripura in India’s Independence movement or is it that we fail to remember people like Shanti Bhushan Nag, who was a disciple of Master-da Surya Sen, deserve a special mention in our history books ?”
DEBATE TOPIC FOR THIRD PLACE
“How did India win Independence, was it due to non-violent Satyagraha movement or armed struggle against the British rule ?”
- Each team had four minutes each to put forward their views during each slot.
- Only one student was to speak at a time from each team.
- Both English and Bengali were accepted as languages during the competition.
All the winning participants were awarded with medals and certificates issues by Ullaskar Dutta Academy. Ullaskar Dutta Academy ensured appropriate seating arrangements and refreshment for the participating students, including their teachers and accompanying guardians.

People Participated
The event was attended by the eminent personalities from the fields of academia, publishing guild, politics and media. The event also saw an enthusiastic response from the civil society.
Historian Shri Jagadish Gan Chaudhuri; Shri Jishnu Dev Varma; the then Deputy Chief Minister; Government of Tripura, eminent journalist Shri Jayanta Bhattacharya; leading publisher Shri Subhabrata Deb of Akshar Publications, Agartala were part of the esteemed panel of the event.
Description The importance of unstudied history and culture was presented in a multitude of viewpoints revolving around the often unsung armed revolutionaries who shaped the movement for Independence in the Indian subcontinent to oust colonial power. The event also witnessed an enriching open house where the audience from various disciplines shared their views and did a question and answer session with the erudite panel. The winners of the Ullaskar Dutta Sketch competition and school level debate were facilitated on this day by the distinguished guests. ■
