Preservation of the ancestral house of revolutionary Ullaskar Dutta in Kalikachha village, Brahmanbaria district in Bangladesh. This house is now a heritage building of Bangladesh.
In November 2022, Ullaskar Dutta Academy initiated contacts with various civil society groups like Udichi Shilpo Goshthi of Bangladesh and other likeminded stakeholders to revive the memory of revolutionary Ullaskar Dutta, whose ancestral house is in Kalikachha Village in Brahmanbaria District of Bangladesh. The shared history resonated with the hearts and minds of the people in both the Bengals on either side. Ullaskar Dutta Academy constantly co-ordinated and directed this initiative from Kolkata base and culminated it into a big civil society movement inside Bangladesh.
On formation shared by Ullaskar Dutta Academy; rallies, human chain, long march, street meetings demanding preservation of Ullaskar Dutta’s century old ancestral house caught media attention across Bangladesh. Ullaskar Dutta Academy also worked with big names in Bangladesh media like The Daily Star, Prothom Alo, Ittefaq, News24, Jugantar and ATN News and the mass appeal grew. Finally, in February, 2023, Department of Archaeology, Ministry of Culture, Government of Bangladesh issued a Gazette to acquire the premises of revolutionary Ullaskar Dutta’s ancestral house and declared it a heritage building of Bangladesh under Section 10 of The Antiquities Act-1968 (Amendment Ordinance 1976).
